Cinema 4D, V-Ray
More about V-Ray rendering in Cinema 4D and compare prices for all renders

V-Ray for Cinema 4D Home Documantation
I familiarized myself with V-Ray rendering for Cinema 4D.
V-Ray is a rendering engine developed by the Bulgarian company Chaos Group. It is a system for visualization of 3D scenes.
Rendering in Cinema 4D with V-Ray
I used to work a little with V-Ray in 3ds Max, then I wasn't interested in this renderer for a long time, then I found out that this renderer is for Cinema 4D and can generate graphics in real time.
Prices of different renders for Cinema 4D (October 2024)
Redshift: $69.91/mo. Billed yearly $839.00
OctaneRender: 23.95 €/mo. 19.99 €/mo (Billed yearly)
Arnold: $50/mo. Billed yearly $400
V-Ray: €37.90/mo. Billed yearly €454.80
Chaos Corona: €54.90/mo. Billed yearly €358.80 (no realtime rendering)
OctaneRender has no less capabilities than V-ray, and maybe more, good rendering speed and a lower price than V-Ray.
When I tested V-Ray, its graphics generation speed was very slow, a 1920x1080 image took a very long time to generate or low-quality graphics were generated faster. Although I was able to generate a small-sized image from the course with good graphics and in a relatively short time.
With this graphics rendering speed, V-Ray should be free or cost less than OctaneRender.
The leader in capabilities, speed and popularity is Redshift, but the price is also appropriate.
I like all renders.
I found a small youtube course with examples V-Ray lessons, I studied the basics of V-Ray in Cinema 4D, evaluated its advantages, convenience and speed of operation.
After testing, I realized that V-Ray is very slow.

Bokeh Effects in Dof and Motion Blur are not working for some reason.
Also unable to start generating all images to make video.
It was not possible to generate images all at once for 30 videos, I had to generate one at a time. Then I saw that the animation generation is performed differently, but the rendering speed was low and it was not possible to generate high-resolution graphics.
In the first video with the rotating camera, the images with the background for some reason jerked a lot in different frames.
For some reason, a blurred background with differences was generated in each new frame, which made the video look poor. I put one static layer on top of all the animation frames to remove the differences, but this poor-quality graphics jerking effect is visible near the camera.

Understanding metalness
V-Ray has a large collection of materials and other assets in Chaos Cosmos.
Node Editor with materials is similar to other renderers.
V-Ray generates real-time graphics a little differently than Arnold.
When graphics are generated in V-Ray, at the beginning of 3-5 seconds, the details of the objects are not as clearly visible as in Arnold, you need to wait until the previous more detailed objects appear, but then the image in V-Ray appears immediately much more more detailed and then gradually improves, it depends on the scene settings and dimensions. Arnold does not have this pause of 3-5 seconds. Initially, small rough squares appear in V-Ray, which change to dots, in Arnold there are no such rough squares. In V-Ray, many settings are similar to other renderers. Although V-Ray did not generate as detailed graphics as Arnold in the tutorial, the speed of generating large images was very slow. In my opinion Redshift, Octane and Arnold generate graphics more clearly and faster.
V-Ray Cinema 2024 often crashes for me (perhaps it is a bug in Cinema 2024 itself), but the V-Ray is decent and interesting render with a beautiful interface in nodes and bright yellow icons in the toolbar.

If you try to render through the queue, rendering takes a long time and there is no information when the image will be generated or if it is generated at all.
Generating an image with good quality in V-Ray 1920x1080 as in the lesson takes two hours or 25 minutes with denoiser.
This is a lot compared to Arnold renedrom or Octane.
V-Ray has the ability to transfer the generation to some servers or Chaos Cloud. Even in the cloud, the image from the 1920x1080 lesson was generated in 20 minutes (taking into account all paths), which is also very long.
Generating a single 1920x1080 image takes a very long time.
All its capabilities are very good, except for the generation time, graphics generation with good settings, even with denoiser, takes a very long time.
I tested how V-Ray generates a scene from a lesson with a denoiser, 15 minutes passed, the image was generated, but there is a lot of blur in it and the indicator shows that about 10% of the time has passed. For such a single scene, this rendering speed is very low, even 20 minutes in Chaous Cloud is a long time.
V-Ray is inferior to other paid renderers Redsfift, Octane, Arnold.
I tried to generate graphics with the GPU with different settings, in 10-15 minutes I managed to generate a normal image of the scene from the lesson 1920x1080, but it is not the detailed image quality that should be obtained.
V-Ray rendering is a good rendering, everything is well done, an excellent library with models, materials, but the rendering speed needs to be increased at least 10 times, then this rendering will be in demand, and unfortunately all the advantages of V-Ray rendering are lost due to slow graphics generation speed.
Creating animations in V-Ray for Cinema 4D
More details in this lesson

In the examples of these tutorials, for some reason, some scenes have a large file size, for example, there are scenes of 300, 500, 600 megabytes, which in my opinion is a lot. If you add the sources in the textures folder, there are about 500 megabytes, one lesson scene with a butterfly animation for 4 seconds takes 1.1 gigabytes.
Render Pictute to Viewer does not launch the Viewer window to create animations like other renders do.
I tried to add animation generation to the queue - it generates and nothing happens.
In the lesson, the author shows how he generates frames with different settings, but the first example is of poor quality, and the generation of one frame was performed within a minute.
The author then shows that he generated one frame of this animation during
an hour and a half!
This despite the fact that he also installed settings with a denoiser.
It is unfortunately very long.
The author renders the scene in Chaos Cloud, you can go there only with a license.
And even in Chaos Cloud, a scene of 1920x1080 with 120 frames (4-5 seconds of video) was generated by the author in 3 and a half hours, which is also very long even taking into account the generation in the cloud.
Here is an example
V-Ray for Cinema 4D — Optimizing scenes with V-Ray Profiler, in which the developers show how they optimize the speed of generating a 960x540 image from 24 to 21 minutes. This image is small in size, in other renderers it can be generated in 2-3 minutes or faster depending on the render settings.
It is very surprising that there are other paid renderers for Cinema 4d: Redshift, Octane, Arnold, which generate graphics much faster (5-10 times), while V-Ray has good potential, the developers know that they have a low graphics generation speed that is not allows you to work even for free.
At the same time, V-Ray remains paid with a rather large price tag.
I did not generate this animation from the hour and a half frame lesson, unfortunately all the advantages of V-Ray rendering are lost due to the slow speed of graphics generation. But maybe there are some methods to speed up this process or the developers will improve it in new versions.

I tried to generate a quality tutorial image, but it took too long.
Interestingly, color correction can be performed in the process of image generation, and effects are applied even to an image that has not yet been generated.
V-Ray for Cinema 4D — Getting started
V-ray is a strange renderer, in my opinion unpopular, generates graphics without interruption. It is unclear how long to wait to get a good result, there is no time indicator of the graphics creation process. I generated these two 1920×1080 images for one minute each, the quality is relatively good.
