Hear how Pete got on with his Scalp Micropigmentation treatment at Harley Hair
At Harley Hair, we do what we do because we know just how much it can change the lives of others - but we certainly wouldn't expect you to just take our word for it...
That's why we've got back in touch with some of our past patients to hear just how they're getting on post-treatment. Here is what the delightful Pete Hobbs had to say about undergoing Scalp Micropigmentation at Harley Hair...
Do you know what? I've been fantastic. I can't tell you the difference it's made. I think the confidence it's given me has even helped transform other areas of my life too. [laughs]
I think the best part about it is the fact that it is so low maintenance. I really wasn't looking for something which would require lots of upkeep.
I like to keep busy - and I run my own food business - so it's just great feeling as though my hair essentially takes care of itself. It's one less thing to worry about, and that little bit of extra time and mental energy makes all the difference elsewhere.
I'm a pretty active guy, so it was a case of wanting to feel like I could get stuck into things without worrying about my hair.
I love sports and trying different activities and you can only really wear a hat when the occasion calls for it [laughs]. I found that more often than not I was opting for a hat of some sort because I was feeling a bit self-conscious. It was more about freedom, I suppose.
I absolutely love it.
It's so subtle that people don't really tend to notice, yet they can still see a big difference.
I was never really a long hair kind of guy, so when I first heard about this technique I thought 'perfect'.
There's no way in a million years that you wouldn't think it was natural - I was gobsmacked.
Sure. The treatment itself took about 5 sessions, so quite a long process all in all, but definitely one that I'm very glad I did.
The first session was a test to make sure to get the right shade so that it looked as natural as possible. After that, I would visit the clinic every week or so and have a new section worked on.
The whole thing was very professional and Sophie [Harley Hair's lead cosmetic tattooist] was great company throughout some pretty long sessions.
I couldn't fault the experience at all, to be honest.
I first came across Harley Hair because of the affiliation with Harley Street Skin - and they do tonnes of work with the British Military.
I'm not from London originally, but I did a bit of research and everyone spoke really highly of you guys.
Once I'd seen some before and after pictures I was pretty much sold because the transformation was unreal. I really wanted to give it a shot.
Man, what I wouldn't give to have been able to tell myself to do it earlier [laughs]. I only first heard about this treatment last year. I'd never go for a hair transplant or do anything really drastic, but this kind of thing? Absolutely.
Advice-wise, I'd probably say that time is of the essence. I was told that it's much easier to get started when you're still working with a bit of hair so if you're considering it, it's worth getting going with the process sooner rather than later.
Also, I didn't know this before I got started: sweating after treatment is a bit of a no-no, because the pigment needs to heal into the skin. This can impact your workouts a little, so make sure you get a good sesh in at the gym before you go in!
Oh, absolutely. I fully intend on coming back for the odd touch-up here and there.
As I say, I couldn't fault the experience. Some days I'd turn up to a session after a really stressful day and I'd just zone out with my headphones in. Harley Hair made me feel really comfortable throughout the whole thing. I'm really grateful for that, so thank you.
